About Us

The Connecticut Chapter of the National Speaker's Association (NSA-CT) was chartered in 2003.  Abby Marks Beale, Susan Keane Baker and Marcie Shepard were driving forces behind the chartering.  Abby, with Susan and Marcie's, help had been running an informal speaker's group in Connecticut for several years before the members of the group voted to become an affiliated chapter of NSA.  Abby served as the chapter's first president.

We currently hold regular meetings 7-8 times a year; periodically we offer special meetings such as Speaker 101, a primer for those who want to get into the speaking business.  Members and associates who pay the annual dues get into all regular meetings free and receive discounts on the costs of special meetings.  (See the members page for more information on benefits and costs.)

Our operating year is July 1 to June 30th.  At the year-end meeting Chapter Member of the Year and the Abby Marks Beale awards are given to deserving volunteers who have contributed their time and talents throughout the year.
